Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's) and LED Indicators
Controller LED Indicators
The LED indicators on the COMPUSHIFT Sport and COMPUSHIFT Pro illuminate in various patterns and combinations as follows:
Controller LED | Meaning |
---|---|
Blank | Power is off. |
Solid Red | 12 volt bus voltage is below 9.6V. Below 9.6V, the controller hardware will not operate properly. The controller will automatically reset and hold in a reset state until the system voltage is stable for a duration above this point. |
Solid Green | Voltage OK, internal startup problem. |
Slow Blinking Green | Normal operation. |
Fast Blinking Green | System bootloader is running, ready to update firmware. |
Slow Blinking Red | A DTC / fault has occurred, but is not presently active. |
Fast Blinking Red | A DTC / fault is occurring now. |
Handheld Display LED Indicators
Handheld Display | Meaning |
---|---|
Red | One or more active trouble codes. |
Yellow | One or more recorded trouble codes. |
Off | No active or recorded trouble codes. |
Regulation Fault Codes
Regulation | Meaning | Notes | Possible |
---|---|---|---|
None | No fault | ||
Resistance Low | The effective resistance of the solenoid in the circuit is significantly lower than expected. The system knows the expected solenoid resistance and using Ohm's law calculates the effective solenoid resistance using the measured solenoid current and bus voltage. | Usually this fault only occurs with on/off solenoids. | Failing solenoid, bad transmission ground, harness damage. |
Resistance High | The effective resistance of the solenoid in the circuit is significantly higher than expected. The system knows the expected solenoid resistance and using Ohm's law calculates the effective solenoid resistance using the measured solenoid current and bus voltage. | Usually this fault only occurs with on/off solenoids. | Failing solenoid, bad transmission ground, harness damage. |
Current High | There is a short circuit or other solenoid load that is much lower resistance than expected. | May occur with any type of solenoid. This is like a circuit breaker tripping. | Short circuit. |
Regulation Alternating | The commanded current in the solenoid is varying more than expected. | Only occurs with a PWM solenoid. | Alternator rectifier failure, excessive ripple on the 12V bus. |
Regulation Low | The actual current in the solenoid is consistently less than commanded current in the solenoid | Only occurs with a PWM solenoid. | Poor wiring to transmission controller, bad ground, excessive ripple on the 12V bus, small gauge wire used where it should not be on power or ground circuits. |
Regulation High | The actual current in the solenoid is consistently more than commanded current in the solenoid | Only occurs with a PWM solenoid. | Poor wiring to transmission controller, bad ground, excessive ripple on the 12V bus, small gauge wire used where it should not be on power or ground circuits. |
Invalid Mode | The solenoid driver system was commanded to an invalid mode | This error should never occur on production software. |
