Installing Harness 35202 for a Nissan 350Z RE5 Shift Lever

This article advises how to install and connect a Nissan 350Z RE5 shift lever to a COMPUSHIFT Sport or COMPUSHIFT Pro controller. Note that the mate to the OEM connector on the shift lever is presently unavailable. We have provided a replacement connector that must be installed in place of the original in order to connect the shift lever.

Tools Required

  • Small diagonal cut-off pliers.

  • Small crimping pliers appropriate for the supplied terminals.

Instructions

  • Identify the original connector, noting the wire colors and locations on the pinout chart below. Note that the original numbering strategy on the connector is somewhat unusual.

  • Cut one wire from the original connector and crimp a single provided terminal onto that wire, crimping only the wire conductors avoiding the wire insulation.

  • Note the key way on the terminal and connector, then install that terminal into the new connector in the corresponding pin number location.

  • Repeat the process until you have installed all of the terminals.

  • Close the retainer on the new connector to lock terminals in position.

  • Plug the shift lever harness plug into the shift lever receptacle.

  • Connect the shift lever harness to the main COMPUSHIFT harness.

  • Be sure to connect the brake switch and interior lights to the labelled connections on the COMPUSHIFT harness.
