The Flash or Param Tools Won't Start....
Some older PC's have poor graphics driver support, and thus have a problem running the graphics in the hgmutils suite.
There is a way to override the default drivers and force an older set to be used. In order to do this, the environment variable "QT_OPENGL" needs to be set to "angle".
Here's how to do that:
From the start menu In Windows, go to the Control Panel.
Double click on the System item
Select "Advanced System Settings".
Click the "Environment Variables" button at the bottom of the window that opens.
Below the "System Variables" area, press the "New..." button. Enter the data as follows:
Variable Name: QT_OPENGL
Variable Value: angleClick "OK" to save the environment variable.
Click OK on the "Environment Variables" window and close the control panel.
Start the either the hgmflash or hgmparam tool.
Alternatively
Open a command prompt as an administrator. Type the following:
setx QT_OPENGL angle
Tools Won't Connect to the Controller
Check the CAN connection has correct termination and polarity.
Check that the baud rate of the CAN connection is the same on the controller and the PC. The default is 500Kb/sec, but systems that use J1939 are often set to 250Kb/sec.
