Number of Engine Cylinders

If you connect a tachometer signal to COMPUSHIFT II (recommended), you need to tell COMPUSHIFT II how many times per engine revolution your tachometer signal fires. The frequency of this signal varies depending on the number and arrangement of engine cylinders.

 Common Settings

The following table shows the usual relationship between engine type and pulses per revolution (PPR) for different types of gas engines:
